About All Riddles
All Riddles is a free collection of riddles with answers, built for parents, teachers and anyone who wants a good question for the car, the classroom or the dinner table.
What you will find
Every riddle has a page of its own. The question comes first, the answer sits right under it, and a few paragraphs explain why the wording works, how else it is told and, where something is known, where it comes from. Every riddle is listed on the All riddles page, newest first, and the home page shows a riddle of the day. New riddle pages are added regularly.
Who it is for
The pages are written for the adult who reads the riddle aloud, such as a parent, a teacher or a host. Everything on the site is meant to be clean and family-friendly.
Where the riddles come from
Some riddles are taken, in the book's own wording, from collections printed before 1931, such as Riddles and Jokes (1863), The Handbook of Conundrums (1915) and The World's Best Conundrums and Riddles of All Ages (1924). Each of these shows its book under the answer. Others are traditional riddles that have been told in many forms, and we have put them in our own words.
Each riddle is solved and checked before it goes on a page.
